Abstract:

The designed antenna is a dual band patch antenna that can work on Wi-Fi frequencies (2.4 GHz – 5.2 GHz) to replace another antenna that was taken as an example. Within this project, dual band patch antenna design techniques have been examined and compared according to their advantages. Firstly, the reference antenna was characterized and investigated to  the S11 parameter and radiation pattern. For reducing the design to the desired dimensions, the short circuit plane method which is one of the reduction techniques, was used in a different way from the literature. However, since the design could not be produced, the wall was intermittently realized thanks to vias. The antenna is also used microstrip feeding technique because the reference antenna was designed with the same technique. CST Studio and AWR Design Environment for characterization of the reference antenna and design of the new antenna; Network Analyzer was used for measuements.
