Abstract:
In this project a smart solar charger was designed. Before starting the design a wide literature review was made for a better work. Some important subjects were examined like battery variations, solar panel characteristics and key considerations for solar charging. After the literature review integrated circuits MCP73871 Li-ion Charger and TPS63060 Buck-Boost Converter were chosen in terms of size, cost and efficiency matters and Li-ion battery to add power bank function to the circuit. The Schematic and PCB layout of the circuit was drawn in Altium Designer program. Also a wireless waiter call system was implemented for the smart umbrella. For RF communication nRF24L01 was selected because of its technique specifications such as communication range, power consumption, multi module communication and its low price. This module needs a MCU to be controlled and MSP430G2553 was selected for this purpose because it is a low cost microcontroller and has open source library for nRG24L01 module.
